Clean Water Management Trust Fund Main Grant Applications Page

 

Eligible Applicants

A state agency, a local government, or a nonprofit corporation whose primary purpose is the conservation, preservation, and restoration of North Carolina's environmental and natural resources is eligible to apply for a grant for the purpose of protecting or enhancing water quality.

Submittal Process

Complete Application Packages must be received by CWMTF by close of business February 1 . If the deadline falls on a weekend, applications are due the following Monday.   Mail or deliver three UNBOUND (no staples, binders, notebooks, etc.) application packages to:

Application Review Process

Applications are reviewed by CWMTF staff for completeness and evaluated with criteria established by the Board of Trustees to produce a proposal score.

CWMTF Board of Trustees reviews the applications, additional information they may request, and the proposal score to make funding decisions.

Approval of applications each year is subject to availability of funds.

GRANT APPLICATION FORMS

To carry out the mandate set by legislation, CWMTF provides grant funds for five primary activities.   Click on a project type below to receive Application Guidelines and an Application Form for that project type.

Use this link to download a template that may be used to fulfill the requirement for a resolution supporting application to CWMTF.

A.   Acquisition of Riparian Buffers (fee simple or conservation easements)

B.   Acquisition of Riparian Greenway Corridors (includes regional trails)

C.   Restoration or Stormwater Projects

D.   Wastewater Infrastructure

E.   Planning (for Acquisition, Greenway, Restoration, Stormwater, or Wastewater Infrastructure projects)

In addition, CWMTF has several "mini-grant" programs to help recipients plan and prepare for larger projects.   Mini-grants do not follow the same application or review process.   There is no deadline for mini-grants.   Click the link below to see if your proposal may quality for a mini-grant.
