RALEIGH -The Board of Trustees of the Clean Water Management Trust Fund will review priorities and make final decisions on grant applications for funding requests submitted last December when it meets in Wallace, N.C. Monday, August 14, 2006. The CWMTF Board of Trustees meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Wallace Woman's Club, located at the intersection of N.E. Railroad Street and E. Murray Street. The board will consider funding 100 eligible grant requests totaling $152.5 million for water quality projects all across the state. A complete list of the projects up for review is on line here in .PDF format. In addition, the board will begin its review of new acquisition project grant requests submitted on June 1, 2006. A list of projects to be initially reviewed is on line here.. On Sunday, August 13, the board's Staff Efficiency Evaluation and Planning, Acquisition, Infrastructure and Wastewater, and Restoration and Stormwater committees will meet, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites, located at 131 River Village Place in Wallace. On Monday, the Staff Efficiency Evaluation and Planning and Budget committees will meet jointly, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn. Complete agendas for all meeting are on line here. The CWMTF was established in 1996 to help finance projects that enhance or restore degraded waters, protect unpolluted waters, and/or contribute toward a network of riparian buffers and greenways for environmental, educational, and recreational benefits. CWMTF estimates that more than $17 billion is needed to protect and restore water quality in North Carolina. The 21-member, independent, CWMTF Board of Trustees has full responsibility over the allocation of money from the fund. ###
