MEMORANDUM
TO: Members of
the House
FROM: Bill Holman
Re: Geographic
Distribution of Clean Water Projects
Several members
of the House of Representatives have requested information
about the geographic distribution of projects funded by the
Clean Water Management Trust Fund.
CWMTF has received
891 grant applications from local governments, state agencies,
and non-profit land conservation trusts from all regions of
the state requesting a total of $1,006,435,958 since 1996.
Thanks to appropriations from the General Assembly CWMTF has
awarded 407 grants totaling $320,702,029 and leveraged at
least $533,664,803 in other public and private funds.
CWMTF funds acquisition
of riparian buffers, acquisition of greenways, acquisition
of conservation easements, planning, stream restoration, stormwater
management, wastewater improvement, and other projects that
protect and restore surface water quality.
Attached is a map
that shows both the geographic distribution and the types
of projects funded by CWMTF through December 2002.
CWMTF received
69 new applications requesting $102.3 million in December
2002. CWMTF estimates that it will receive about $100 million
in new requests in June 2003.
