The Board of Trustees of CWMTF will meet July 11-12 in Raleigh, August 8-9 in Burke County, September 12-13 in Kinston, October 10-11 in Greensboro, and November 14-15 in Raleigh. The Board will set priorities for 2004A projects in July, review restoration and stormwater projects in August, review land acquisition projects in September, review infrastructure/wastewater projects in October, and set priorities for 2004B projects in November.

Wilkes Soil & Water Conservation District will lead a tour of water quality improvements in the Kerr Scott Lake Watershed in the Upper Yadkin River Basin on Friday, May 7, 2004. The tour will feature collaborative projects between the District and CWMTF, DENR’s Ecosystem Enhancement Program, Wildlife Resources Commission, and Department of Transportation. The NC General Assembly convenes for its “Short Session” on May 10, 2004.

Clean Water Lobby Day at the legislature is May 19, 2004.

The Board of Trustees of the Parks & Recreation Authority will meet on May 21-22, 2004 at Umstead State Park, July 23-24 at Lake James State Park, and October 24-25 at Gorges State Park.

Land & Water Conservation Lobby Day at the legislature is June 2, 2004.

National Trails Day is June 5, 2004.

The Conservation Council of NC and other conservation organizations will host legislators at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences on June 16, 2004.

The US Fish & Wildlife Service is accepting proposals for North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) grants to conserve wetlands and wetlands-dependent fish and wildlife through acquisition, restoration and/or enhancement until July 30, 2004. Contact David Buie at david_buie@fws.gov.

The next deadline for applications for the Natural Heritage Trust Fund is August 9, 2004; the Board of Trustees of NHTF will meet on September 30, 2004.

At its April 18-19 meeting in Lenior the Infrastructure/Wastewater Committee recommended and the Board tentatively approved no grants for design and permitting, 12 grants up to $16.7 million for design, permitting, and construction costs for wastewater projects, and one wastewater planning grant.

Does the Restoration/Stormwater Committee want to reconsider its March recommendations?
