Clean Water Management Trust Fund Meets in Raleigh, Continues Water Quality Grant Reviews

RALEIGH – The board of trustees of the North Carolina Clean Water Management Trust Fund holds its regularly scheduled meeting Monday, May 10, 2004 in Lenoir in Raleigh.

Monday’s meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. and will be held at the Ramada Inn/Blue Ridge, 1520 Blue Ridge Road.

The board's acquisition, stewardship, restoration/stormwater, long range planning and legislative committees will meet Sunday, May 9 beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the North Carolina Museum of Art located at 2110 Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh.  The budget and infrastructure/wastewater committees will meet prior to Monday’s full board meeting beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the Ramada Inn.

The trustees will continue their review of water quality grant applications, most of which were submitted on Dec. 1, 2003. A complete list of grant proposals under review and the agenda for all committees meetings, as well as project descriptions, can be found at online.  The complete agenda for the meeting of the full board of trustees is also available on line.

The CWMTF was established in 1996 to help finance projects that enhance or restore degraded waters, protect unpolluted waters, and/or contribute toward a network of riparian buffers and greenways for environmental, educational, and recreational benefits. CWMTF estimates that more than $10.5 billion is needed to protect and restore water quality in North Carolina.

The 21-member, independent, CWMTF Board of Trustees has full responsibility over the allocation of money from the fund.
