CWMTF Board Meets in Raleigh to Review Funding Priorities, Make Final Grant Awards

RALEIGH -The Board of Trustees of the Clean Water Management Trust Fund will review priorities and make final decisions on grant applications for funding requests submitted last June when it meets in Raleigh Monday, November 13, 2006.

The CWMTF Board of Trustees meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Brownstone, located at 1707 Hillsborough Street.

The board will consider funding 101 grant requests totaling $110.4 million for water quality projects all across the state. A complete list of the projects up for review is on line here in .PDF format.

On Sunday, November 12, the board's Infrastructure and Wastewater,Restoration and Stormwater, Acquisition and Stewardship committees will meet, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Brownstone. On Monday, the Budget committee will meet, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Brownstone.

The CWMTF was established in 1996 to help finance projects that enhance or restore degraded waters, protect unpolluted waters, and/or contribute toward a network of riparian buffers and greenways for environmental, educational, and recreational benefits. CWMTF estimates that more than $17 billion is needed to protect and restore water quality in North Carolina.

The 21-member, independent, CWMTF Board of Trustees has full responsibility over the allocation of money from the fund.
