Schell is responsible for CWMTF publications and managing its web site.

Schell has extensive experience working on behalf of North Carolina's natural resources. Prior to joining the CWMTF staff, she served as Public Relations Manager for the three North Carolina Aquariums. During that time she oversaw media relations for the expansions of the North Carolina Aquariums on Roanoke Island and at Fort Fisher, In addition, she edited the Aquarium Society’s award winning newsletter. From 1994 to 1998, she was Public Information Officer for the North Carolina Division of Forest Resources. Prior to her state government career, Schell was press secretary for Rep. David Price. She has over 15 years experience as a broadcast and print journalist, most recently serving as afternoon news anchor on WPTF Radio in Raleigh.

While she is an avid cyclist, Schell also is a confirmed "water person" who has never been able to live more than two and a half hours from an ocean. Born in Kailua, Hawaii and raised in San Diego County, California, she is a graduate of California State University at Northridge. When not on her bike, or diving underwater, she can most likely be found on top of it, sea kayaking, or throwing a stick into it for her rescued black Lab, Boone.
