CWMTF Trust Fund September Board Meeting Canceled RALEIGH - The North Carolina Clean Water Management Trust Fund's September 11-12 meeting in Rutherford County has been canceled because of restrictions on state travel. On September 2, at the request of Governor Mike Easley, the Office of State Budget and Management restricted all in and out-of-state travel until September 15 in order to conserve fuel in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Grant requests scheduled for review at the September meeting tentatively will be reviewed at the board's October 9-10 meeting. The board may meet an additional day, on October 8, to accomodate the extended agenda. In response to public concerns about water quality problems across the state, the General Assembly established the CWMTF in 1996. Local governments, conservation non-profits and state agencies are the only eligible applicants for CWMTF grants, which are to be used to finance projects to protect or, where necessary, restore water quality in the state's 17 river systems.
